简介:In Britain, as in many countries, the subject of domestic abuse is highly misunderstood and even taboo which is shocking when you consider the extent of the problem. 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse in the course of their lifetime (Source: British Crime Survey, 2000), domestic abuse occurs within the UK every 6 to 20 seconds (Ibid) and 1 in 5 young men and 1 in 10 young women think that abuse or violence against women is acceptable (Source: Zero Tolerance Charitable Trust, 1998). Women’s Aid is a charity set up to help people affected by domestic abuse.
